About Bryce&Doyle
Bryce & Doyle’s evolution to a full service design/build firm has been a natural progression from its humble beginnings as a custom wood working shop. Owner Richard Doyle got his start building out of the ordinary novelty wood products and soon was being commissioned by interior designers, owners of finer homes and proprietors of historic buildings like the Genesee Valley Club to build custom wood products from furniture to coffered ceilings and custom moldings. We are very excited to share our commitment to supporting the growth of business in the downtown area and have recently built our brand new state of the art luxury showroom in the Empire Zone of the High Falls area. We are also honored to be able to showcase some of the examples of our custom craftsmanship at The Sagamore on East luxury apartments. Our mission is to help you rediscover the passion in your home by accommodating you with exceptional levels of quality craftsmanship and customer service.

We are proud to support local trade organizations and are active members in National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) and Better Contractors Bureau (BCB).

Richard Doyle, Owner/President

Richard Doyle is not only the owner of Bryce & Doyle Craftsmanship but is the creative force that is the cornerstone and vision of this notable and upscale design/build firm.

Richard was born and raised in Rochester, NY and has a personal affinity for this great city. With customers demanding more high-end, custom applications Richard knew it was time to build a new facility that would allow him to showcase all aspects of any type of project that a client could imagine. He intentionally stayed put in the city and bought and gutted the 140 year old building that used to be Gruttadauria's Bakery and converted it into a 3800 square foot luxury design living showroom.

Richard has a come a long way since he started his business as Almost Ordinary Wood Products over 25 years ago building novelty wood products and furniture pieces that were sold at local fairs and arts and crafts shows. Delivering an exceptional level of quality and craftsmanship, Richard's passion for woodworking led him to building custom furniture, entertainment centers and architectural millwork. As word spread of Richard's talent, his reputation for exceptional customer service, honesty and integrity became synonymous with the beauty and intricacy of his craftsmanship. His desire to always put the needs of his clients first along with his natural ability for networking has afforded Richard the opportunity to partner efforts with some of the most creative and well known talent in Rochester like Nancy Gong local glass artist, Paul Knoblaugh local metal artist and designers like Debra Audet and Maury Catcheye. Always modest, Richard is most proud of his reputation as a man of his word.

Amy Kruger, Senior Designer

"After all these years, designing kitchens for me is always a new experience - each job, each client, each day…. Unique and new… this is what I love about my job."

Being creative has always been a part of Amy's life. Pretty much was born with a pencil in her hand. She was always sketching and drawing as a child. By the 7th grade she knew that she wanted to be an interior designer and structured her academics toward that goal. Throughout high school she took mechanical drawing and art classes. She attended Buffalo State College for interior design and was hired by her professor during and after graduation as an assistant for his own person interior design business.

After working in the Buffalo area for 2 years she moved back to Rochester and started working at her first kitchen and bath showroom. That was in 1991 and the rest as they say "is history".

"the years in this business has taught me many things - what works, what doesn't….how to communicate ideas and how to listen, which is the key to being a good designer."

Today you can find Amy either at the drawing board creating a new dream space or somewhere enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two boys. (depending on if it's a work day or not !) She lives in the country outside of Rochester and enjoys spending time with her family, flowers, horses, motorcycles, beads, skiing and believe it or not doesn't spend her free-time in the kitchen :). Amy has spent most of her life in the Rochester area but thanks to her family trips as a child and spending time abroad during college has had the opportunity to experience many beautiful places, people and cultures which all have an influence on her designing.

"I find designing to be an emotional experience. When an idea is good, it FEELS right. This translates to a wonderful space that you want to spend time in…this makes people happy."

Tom Kilminster, Project Manager

Tom was born to a British mother and Welch father in Bletchley, England just outside of London. Eastman Kodak Company brought the Kilminster family to the United States just shy of Tom's second birthday. Tom grew up in West Irondequoit and resides there still with his wife Melissa and son Liam.

Tom did not grow up knowing that he wanted to become a master craftsman. After a year of college, Tom went looking to see what the world had to offer and moved to North Carolina to work for his cousin, a Project Manager for a commercial construction company. While Tom's job as a general laborer was far from creative and fulfilling, it was there that he became aware of his innate ability to clearly see a finished project in his minds eye from a mere concept. Tom became intrigued by the beauty and detail of finish work and all the steps that go into bringing a project to fruition.

Finally knowing what his passion was, Tom began classes at New England School of Architectural Woodwork for cabinet making. He graduated in 2000 eager to begin his career. A mutual friend suggested that with Tom's abilities he should approach Richard Doyle about a job. Richard immediately recognized Tom's passion and eagerness to learn and hired him as a Carpenter's Assistant to then project manager Justin Lippa.

Tom is quick to acknowledge that being mentored by Richard and Justin in the mechanics of finish, detail work and cabinet making has given him the skill sets needed to achieve his recent promotion to Project Manager.

Tom has worked very hard at building his credibility and develops wonderful relationships with clients because he strives to keep his schedule and conducts himself with integrity and a consistently high level of quality in every aspect of what he does. Tom's inspiration now comes from guiding and mentoring his people through a project and knowing that he was able to instill in them his passion for exceeding the customer's expectations not only in the finished product but in the total experience as well.

Tom's two biggest passions besides his family are golf and custom woodworking. He can often be found in his workshop designing and building custom wood products and looks forward to his son being old enough to teach and share his passions with!
